Boulevard's holiday gift for real beer lovers. This hearty, winter warmer-style brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of freshly harvested Chinook hops.
Not too malty, not too dry. Our Winter Warmer weighs in at 8.5%abv. This ale is copper in color & full of rich malt & balanced East Kent Goldings hops from England. Our Winter Warmer contains no spice; however, the esters produced by our house ale yeast will impart hints of fruit & citrus. Big malt presence, both in flavor & body. The color ranges from brownish-reds to nearly pitch black. Hop bitterness is generally low, leveled & balanced, but hop character can be pronounced. Alcohol warmth is not uncommon. Many English versions contain no spices; though some brewers of spiced winter seasonal ales will slap "Winter Warmer" on the label. Those that are spiced tend to follow the "wassail" tradition of blending robust ales with mixed spices.
This dark Belgian quadrupel is considered the highest quality beer brewed at St. Bernadus Brewery. In operation since 1946, St. Bernadus Brewery is located in Watou, Belgium. Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all St. Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background. Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d'Arc. The water seeped to Watou through a pervious stratum of sand from the St. Omer area in France.

Waissal is a greeting that wealthy folks gave other folks around the holidays. It comes from the Anglo-Saxxon phrase waes hael, a term often used as a toast meaning, "be hale" or "good health". People would often walk around their towns, knocking on other people's doors, and sing "Waes Hael!". The people answering the doors would offer them heated alcohol to stay warm.
